A Salvation Army Residential Programme for Men

The Endeavour Community is an extension of the Salvation Army's well known Bridge Programme.

The programme is based on 12 Step Principles, complemented by long term rehabilitation, education and resocialisation.

Treatment is individualised but the common elements include:

  • Long term residency ~ usually 12 months or more
  • Work Therapy ~ participants work at all stages of the programme
  • Spiritual emphasis ~ encouraging spiritual growth in a Christian context
  • Addresses both Mental Illness and Addiction (drugs, alcohol, gambling)

Long-term follow-up, Support Groups, Family Therapy and support services, Chapel Services and involvement in AA, NA and GA are provided.

This programme in August 1997. Resident staff provide the basic rehabilitation programmes, run groups and personal counselling, and oversee farm management. However, they do not have formal training in mental health and rely on the services of the local Community Mental Health Team for psychiatric case management, medication and assessment.
