The Midas Dual Disorders Philosophy and Approach
The Midas Programme is an initiative of the South Western Sydney Area Health
Service (SWSAHS). The health service area extends from Bankstown, Sydney's most
culturally diverse suburb, to Bowral, a rural township about 140 Km (80 miles)
south of Bankstown
The Aims of Midas are:
- To support, promote and implement programmes and projects targetting the
needs of people with comorbid mental and drug related problems, their carers
and other significant people in their lives.
- To raise awareness of the prevalence of Dual Diagnosis amongst AOD
workers, Mental Health Teams and other health professionals
- To foster closer relationships and integration of programmes offered by
AOD and Mental Health Teams
- To promote research, public awareness and information services to benefit
people affected by mental illness and problematic substance use.
