South Western Area Pathology Service (SWAPS)

Service

   The South Western Area Pathology Service (SWAPS) offers a comprehensive pathology and consultative service to the people of the South Western area of Sydney. SWAPS has laboratories located at all major hospitals.

Pathologists

   The Director Professor David J. Davies, B.Sc, M.B., Ch.B,M,D., F.R.C.P.A., combines with 17 other specialist pathologists to provide a full pathology service. Areas covered include Anatomical Pathology, Microbiology, Haematology and Clinical Chemistry. Many staff also have clinical appointments with the hospitals and conjoint academic appointments in the University of NSw.

Charges

   SWAPS only charges the Commonwealth Medical Benefit Schedule rate and all charges are covered by the Medicare rebate and/or your private insurance cover, if applicable. Overseas visitors will be invoiced and will be required to pay the full amount on the invoice.

Laboratories

   All SWAPS laboratories are accredited under the joint scheme of the National Association of Testing Authorities and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.
