What We Do ...

The Podiatry Department at Liverpool Hospital provides a specialised service to patients with foot pathology or medical complications that compromise the integrity of their lower limbs or general health.

The aim of the podiatry department is to maintain or improve the foot health status of patients with "high risk" foot pathologies.

Definition of "High Risk":

  • diabetes(all types);

  • lower limb vascular insufficiency;

  • sensory neuropathy;

  • Charcot neuro arthropathy;

  • previous or active foot ulceration;

  • previous amputation; or

  • pathology likely to endanger the patient safety or the integrity of the lower limbs

Usually no single factor is responsible for "at risk" status; combinations of factors are more likely to exist.
