Welcome to the home page of the Health Research Foundation Sydney South West and Ingham Institute. Incorporated as a public company in February 1997, the Foundation now plays a major role in raising and administering funding for research within South West Sydney, as well as developing a world recognised role in best practice research.

We hope that this web site will profile not only a record of achievement of progress in the area of research within South Western Sydney Area Health Service, Sydney Australia, but also promote cross disciplinary knowledge and cooperation between the Foundation and health and medical research groups, research teams and service organisations within the South West Area, affiliated and other universities, and the wider community.

The Foundation – its Vision, Mission, and Goals ...

The Health Research Foundation Sydney South West and Ingham Institute was incorporated in February 1997 as a public company limited by guarantee and a controlled entity of the South Western Sydney Area Health Service, New South Wales, Australia. It was financed initially by the generous grants from Inghams Enterprises Pty Ltd and the New South Wales Government. Operations formally commenced in January 1998 with the appointment of the current Executive Officer of the Foundation.

The Foundation is a not for profit organisation which provides funds for health and medical research within the South Western Sydney Area Health Service. As outlined in the Memorandum and Articles of Association, the object of the Health Research Foundation is

"to raise and administer funding for, promote, examine and evaluate research that will directly or indirectly improve the health status and health outcomes for the population of South Western Sydney. Through the Ingham Institute for Health Research and other institutes of health research (which would be divisions within the company) undertake and engage in health research with an emphasis on health oriented to improve the health of the residents of South Western Sydney. (Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Health Research Foundation Sydney South West and Ingham Institute, 1997, p.1)"
