Course for Enrolled Nurses

Certificate IV in Parentcraft Nursing

For 2005 this course will commence on Monday 4th April – applications close on Monday 28th February

The course duration is 212 hours – 134 of theoretical content and 78 hours of clinical placement. It is VETAB accredited and is run under the auspices of South West Sydney Area Human Resource Development Services.

The Certificate IV in Parentcraft Nursing is designed for Enrolled Nurses to enhance their knowledge and skills to enable them to work with families and young children in the community, hospital and/or residential care settings as Parentcraft Nurses.

The course is based on competency standards for Enrolled Nurses as adopted by the Australian Nursing Council Inc. (1993), and is delivered by a combination of distance learning, face to face lectures and a clinical placements

  • Legislative and Ethical Requirements
  • Fundamentals for Nursing Practice
  • Care of the Child 1
  • Care of the Child 11
  • Parentcraft Practicum

Course prerequisites include enrolment or eligibility for enrolment with the Nurses Registration Board in Certificate IV Nursing (essential) and one year post basic experience (desirable).
