Burns victims may also have significant carbon monoxide toxicity. If this is suspected, apply 100% oxygen immediately on arrival. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment (Prince Henry Hospital) must be considered if:

• Decreased level of consciousness, either persisting or at the scene.
• Carboxy Hb level of 25% or greater. (Normal level 0-2%, smokers up to 5%).
