C Spine # : Immobilisation for transport to specialist unit

  • Sandbags either side of head
  • Jordan Lifting Frame or Spinal Board
  • Tape Patient to Frame / Board
  • (Head, Shoulders and Pelvis)
  • Take care not to comprimise the airway, especially with the chin tape.
  • Always be aware of pressure area care from all four elements of the immobilisation. If the patient is awake and co-operative then do not tape them until you are ready for transfer. Lift on Jordan Frame hourly.
  • Indwelling Urinary Catheter should be inserted for Bladder care.
