SWSAHS Liverpool Trauma - Better Practice

The delivery of optimum care in trauma is an important goal in achieving an optimum outcome. The current delivery of trauma care is challenged by complexity of patient injuries and the different disciplines involved in the patient’s care. To help optimise treatment Better Practice Guidelines form the core of the future delivery of optimum care for the team involved. The South Western Sydney Area Health Service in conjunction with the Trauma Department at Liverpool Hospital, through the Injury Advisory Committee, have embarked upon the process of developing Better Practice Guidelines in Trauma. This side will expand over the coming years to include a broad range of trauma topics. The inaugural Better Practice Guidelines on our web site relate to Inter-hospital Trauma Transfer.

While these guidelines relate to our region, it is important to bear in mind they may need to be tailored for individual hospitals based upon resource. It is important that Better Practice Guidelines become “reality guidelines”, rather than something that have little practical importance. I would commend to you the broader adoption of such guidelines.
