NSW Motor Accident Compensation Scheme

This scheme is funded by motorists’ green slips (compulsory third party insurance) and provides money to those not at fault or partially at fault in a motor vehicle accident. The money is used to pay for medical treatment and rehabilitation and to compensate for loss of earning, pain and suffering. It is important to remember that Medicare does not cover hospital, medical and rehabilitation expenses if you are eligible to claim compensation. The scheme only covers vehicles registered in NSW. Any type of road user may be eligible to claim (cyclist, pedestrian, passenger, driver, motorcyclist, pillion passenger).
