In House Educational Activities:
Weekly Trauma Audit
This meeting is open to all staff in the SWSAHS each Thursday at 7:30am. Nearly 50 doctors, nurses and paramedical staff attend
to review the week's trauma cases. The principle objective is to maintain knowledge in Trauma case
identity and rectify problems.
Weekly Trauma Teaching Round
Every Friday the Trauma Department holds a formal round which all members of staff involved in trauma care
are welcome to attend: regular attendees include the surgical team, nurses from the Trauma Ward and the
Brain Injury Unit, the ICU team and the Trauma Anaesthetic Registrar.
Trauma Educational Programme
Every six months Liverpool Hospital runs an in-house Trauma Education Program for its junior doctors and nursing staff, though everyone is welcome.
Regional Medical Education Program
One of the roles of the Trauma Fellow is to organise an extensive weekly program for area hospitals to provide updates on trauma care.
Regional Nursing Education Program
Our Trauma Project Officer, Nadia Nocera conducts monthly education sessions for nurses in the five urban hospitals within our area health service.
Surgical Fellowship Training in Trauma
The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons has chosen Liverpool Hospital as the New South Wales training centre for teaching trauma care to
Surgeons in the final years of their training. This is a one day course and takes place in May.

Ambulance Symposium
The Trauma department provides twice yearly forums with the ambulance service promoting cross fertilisation of ideas and improving skills.
South Western Area Network (SWAN) Trauma Seminars
This is an exciting multidisciplinary trauma meeting bringing you the world leaders in trauma care. The first meeting was held in 1993 and is run annually.
EMST (ALTS) Courses
These courses are organised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Liverpool Hospital is one many venues used by the College. To find out how to

RURAL TRAUMA COURSE
In conjunction with the Federal Office of Road Safety and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Liverpool held three Rural Trauma Courses at
Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. To see the full program for the course held in 1996, click here
Liverpool is keen to help rural providers of trauma services. We would happily consider holding additional courses in other centres. Just contact
Dr. Michael Sugrue in the Trauma Department.
