Braeside hospital is a 72 bed public hospital situated in pleasant
surroundings, next to a golf course in the south western Sydney suburb of Prairiewood.
It is part of Hope Healthcare Ltd.
Braeside hospital has a 36 bed rehabilitation ward, a 20 bed
palliative care ward and a 16 bed aged care psychiatry ward. Each unit is staffed by
staff specialists and junior medical staff.
Aged Care Psychiatry:
The Aged Care Psychiatry Service consists of a 16 bed
non-gazetted ward with developing outpatient and community services. It has 1
accredited registrar position with potential for advanced training accreditation
if desired. The Service has a commitment to providing optimal care for older
patients and working with their families within a welcoming atmosphere. Staff
development is promoted actively within the hospital and registrar training is
seen as a priority activity.

Aged Care Psychiatry Registrar:
Full time position in a new Aged Care Psychiatry
Service with 16 sub-acute beds and expanding Outpatient and Community
services. Position accredited with RANZCP for training within the South
Western Sydney Area Training zone. Accreditation for advanced training
would be sought if a suitable applicant was forthcoming. The successful
applicant would preferably have successfully completed their first year
of FRANZCP training but a trainee in geriatrics with an interest in
Aged Care Psychiatry would be considered.

Registrar in Rehabilitation Medicine:
An AFRM accredited training position which is part of
the Southern Sydney Training Program. The workload includes inpatient,
outpatient, day hospital and consultative work within Braeside and at
adjacent Fairfield Hospital. The caseload consists of general medical
patients. On the job training is provided with regular registrar
teaching sessions and bedside teaching. The job is also accredited for
six months with both the geriatric medicine training program as well as
the family medicine program.
