Ambulatory Care
REGISTRAR - GENERAL PRACTICE / AMBULATORY CARE
An exciting opportunity exists for a registrar to work with The Macarthur Ambulatory Care Service (MACS).
This vocational training special skills post is accredited with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. MACS provides care in the community for patients who would otherwise be admitted to an acute hospital bed. The service is designed to give patients the choice of care at home rather than as an inpatient, as well as to reduce the length of hospital stay and avoid unnecessary admissions. The service operates on a shared care model between the hospital, local general practitioners and community nursing, while providing a multidisciplinary team approach incorporating health promotion and health education for both patient and carer. MACS provides an acute treatment service for patients with conditions such as pneumonia, cellulitis and anticoagulation needs, a supported discharge service, a multidisciplinary out-patient facility and management of chronic and complex medical conditions. A patient-centred, evidence-based clinical approach is fostered within the service
This term is offered as a GP special skills position for 6 months from January to July or July to December
